Woven Wire Mesh — Selection Tips For A Gutter Guard System

Woven wire mesh has a lot of applications today. It works particularly well as a gutter guard, a system that protects gutters from clogging. If you're interested in said application for your home, be sure to remember these tips when shopping with a wire mesh supplier.

Measure Your Gutters

For woven wire mesh to be truly effective at keeping things from entering your home's gutter system, it needs to have the proper dimensions. They'll be unique to your specific gutters and because of this fact, take time to measure them yourself.

After getting a ladder and some measuring tape, find out how wide and long your gutters are in inches. These are the only dimensions you need to order the correct amount of wire mesh that fits over your gutters perfectly.

Sample Wire Mesh Before Ordering a Large Quantity

Even after you find out how much wire mesh to order for a gutter guard system, it's important to hold off on ordering a large quantity until you verify certain wire mesh materials can work how they're supposed to. In that case, sample wire mesh materials that have different opening sizes.

Set each sample up on your gutters and then throw dirt, debris, and leaves on top of it. You'll see immediately which opening size offers the best protection and thus how to customize wire mesh materials when you find a supplier to order from.

Make Sure the Wire Mesh Is Smooth

If you plan to secure woven wire mesh around your gutters all by yourself, then make sure these materials have smooth surfaces. You wouldn't want to accidentally brush against a section of mesh and scrape your hands or arms after all.

Find a wire mesh supplier that's customized these materials for many years and puts all of their mesh through ample inspections. There is thus less of a chance parts of your wire mesh will show up with rough contact points. Such a subtle detail makes all the difference in the world when you go the DIY route with installation for a gutter guard system.

If you want to keep your gutters from clogging, one thing you can do is secure wire mesh materials over them to act as a guard. These materials can work great for a long time if you get the right size, figure out which opening design works best, and verify each section is safe to work with.
