A Look at Safety in Manufacturing

Hello. I’m Charles Nielson. Welcome. I am here to discuss all the different aspects of safety in manufacturing. When it comes to safety, there is no room for compromise. That is why there are so many safety products and practices in the manufacturing world. On this site, we will explore all those products and practices in great detail, helping you understand how everyone stays safe while working around industrial equipment. We will also look at the ways safety tactics can improve to prevent even more incidents. Please feel free to stop in at your convenience to learn all you can about this important topic. Thank you for coming to visit my site.

Running Hydraulics This Summer? How To Protect Your Equipment

If you rely on hydraulic equipment, now's the time to protect it against summer damage. Summer weather can wreak havoc on hydraulic equipment. This is especially true where the oil is concerned. Luckily, there are steps you can take to prevent weather-related damage this summer. If you're not sure how to provide summer care for your hydraulic equipment, read the list provided below. You'll find four simple steps that will safeguard your investment.

Protect Against Overheating

Temperatures can get quite high during the summer. Unfortunately, those temperatures can destroy hydraulic fluids. That's why you need to protect against overheating. One way to do that is to operate your hydraulic equipment in a cool environment. If that's not possible, take frequent breaks throughout the day. It's also good for you to have the right cooling system on your hydraulic equipment, and that you use the right oil.

Choose the Right Viscosity

You want to protect your hydraulic equipment, That's why you need to make sure you choose the right viscosity for the oil. Using the wrong viscosity can lead to serious damage to your hydraulic equipment. This is especially true when you use a lower viscosity than your equipment needs. Lowering the viscosity increases the risk of overheating, abrasion, and friction damage. To avoid that risk, choose the right viscosity for your equipment, and for the project you're working on.

Prevent Moisture Damage

If you work in a region where humidity is an issue, take steps to prevent moisture damage. High temperatures combined with high humidity can destroy your hydraulic equipment. That's because oil tends to get sticky when it's mixed with high heat and humidity. Humidity adds water to the oil. Once there's water in the oil, your hydraulic equipment can corrode. It also increases wear and tears on your equipment. There are a couple of ways to prevent moisture damage. First, run a dehumidifier in your warehouse. Second, equip your hydraulic equipment with desiccant breathers. The desiccant breathers help remove moisture from hydraulic fluids.

Keep Up on the Repairs

If your equipment runs at full capacity during the summer, stay on top of the repairs and maintenance. Routine maintenance helps to protect against equipment damage. When issues do arise, speedy repairs help to minimize repair costs. Speedy repairs also help to prevent bigger problems down the road.

Don't take chances with your hydraulic equipment. The information provided here will protect your equipment throughout the summer months.
